Fargo Moorhead Metro Recognized by Area Development Magazine

Fargo, N.D. (June 5, 2013) – Area Development Magazine recently ranked the Fargo Moorhead Metro #2 overall among mid-sized cities.

The Fargo Moorhead Metro also led or ranked high in the following categories:

  • #1 Prime workforce growth
  • #4 in economic strength indicators

Fargo ranked #2 in three additional areas

  • economic strength
  • recession busting
  • “now” cities.

North Dakota was one of 15 states to be chosen for a Silver Shovel Award thanks in part to some local projects including John Deere Electronic Solutions, a $22 million project in Fargo; Case New Holland, a $3 million project in Fargo; and Horsch Anderson, a $12 million project in Mapleton.

The report also cites Garden Creek II Plant in Watford City, a $345 million project and Ultra Green Packaging in Devils Lake, a $2.3 million project adding 400 jobs. Each state submitted ten projects that represented permanent economic growth according to Area Development officials.

Three gold and 15 silver shovels are awarded to states that have produced the best and most jobs per capita according to Area Development.
